Brother Hill, a second-generation journeyman electrician, began his career in organized labor as a construction wireman in 1956. From there, he moved into a leadership role, becoming the Business Manager of Beaver County's IBEW Local 71 and then the International Vice President for the IBEW's Third District- which covers all of Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Delaware. Brother Hill was appointed to serve as the International Secretary of the entire IBEW in 1997, then went on to become international president in 2001. He served in that top spot until retiring in 2015. The Labor Movement has lost a great leader with the passing of Edwin D. Hill. The New Jersey State AFL-CIO will always remember with gratitude, the leadership and commitment Brother Hill demonstrated throughout his service. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, loved ones, and all his union brothers and sisters of the IBEW.
